Russian Vocabulary Words
Have you ever eagerly awaited a vacation to your favorite vacation destination, only to realize that the few phrases that you taught yourself just aren’t going to cut it? It’s important that you learn how to ask where the bathroom is or for directions to the restaurant, but once you’ve left your hotel, you’re on your own!
If you’ve been thinking about visiting Russia, or even just considering picking up a new language to add to your portfolio (or for leisure!) then learning Russian vocabulary and Russian phrases is the first step towards acquiring and perfecting the Russian language.
You may have overheard conversations in which you thought the speakers had
Russian accents, but the truth is that Russian is commonly mistaken for many other Slavic languages around the world! The modern Russian language was formed in the 18th century and is used widely throughout the world with it being the primary language in almost one million households in the United States alone.
Learning How to speak Russian can seem like an uphill battle, but once you master some of the finer (and important) foundational aspects of the language like the Russian alphabet, you will find over time that you will start to pick the language up more easily.
A great way to learn Russian and improve your vocabulary is to use a Russian dictionary, and write out commonly used words and phrases on flash cards, which you can practice and flip through on a regular basis. Using any materials that you have at home (cue cards are generally best), you can take the words you’ve learned and turn them into a great study aide!
If you don’t have a lot of time to put towards learning Russian, then just keep your learning tools with you, like the resources available to you on the RussianPod101 podcast. That way, you can practice whenever you feel the need to and wherever you go.
Don’t despair, even if it seems like there is no end in sight. Learning Russian can open so many doors for you, and you might not even realize it! Most people who learn a second language aspire to learn additional languages. Being multi-lingual in today’s society is an incredibly attractive career attribute and can benefit you for a lifetime.
