| Извините за то, что опоздал. (Izvinite za to, chto opozdal.) |
| Ничего страшного. (Nichego strashnogo.) |
| Once more with the English translation. |
| Извините за то, что опоздал. (Izvinite za to, chto opozdal.) |
| “I'm sorry for being late.” |
| Ничего страшного. (Nichego strashnogo.) |
| “Don't worry about it.” |
| First of all you'll need to learn how to say "I'm sorry for [reason]." |
| The pattern is: |
| Извините за то, что [reason]. (Izvinite za to, chto [reason].) |
| This Russian sentence literally translates as "Sorry for that what [reason]." But it means "I'm sorry for [reason].". |
| For example: |
| "I'm sorry for being late." |
| Извините за то, что опоздал., Извините за то, что опоздал. (Izvinite za to, chto opozdal., Izvinite za to, chto opozdal.) |
| Now, how do you respond that it's okay? |
| Ничего страшного. (Nichego strashnogo.) |
| "Don't worry about it." |

| This Russian sentence translates as "Nothing awful." But it means "Don't worry about it." |
