1. выбрать направление (vybrat' napravleniye) “to choose your destination”
(Dlya nachala nuzhno vybrat' napravleniye.) “First of all, you should choose your destination.”
You can use this sentence when you’re in the car using navigation.
2. купить путеводитель (kupit' putevoditel') “to buy a guidebook”
(Davay kupim etot putevoditel'.) “Let's buy this guidebook.”
You can use this phrase as soon as you arrive to the airport.
3. накопить денег (nakopit' deneg) “to save money”
(Ya khochu nakopit' deneg i poyekhat' v Angliyu sleduyushchim letom.) “I want to save some money and go to England next summer.”
4. забронировать билеты (zabronirovat' bilety) “to book a flight”
(Ty uzhe zabroniroval bilety?) “Have you booked a flight already?”
5. подсчитать затраты (podshchitat' zatraty) “to calculate the costs”
(Prezhde chem ekhat' kuda-to, nuzhno podshchitat' vse zatraty.) “You should calculate all the costs before going somewhere.”
6. написать заявление на отпуск (napisat' zayavleniye na otpusk) “to request vacation time”
“I'm going to Sochi for a week and requested vacation time already.”
7. забронировать отель (zabronirovat' otel') “to book accommodation”
(Kakoy otel' ty zabroniroval?) “What accommodation did you book?”
The thing is in Russian, отель (otel') is closer to hotel meaning, but we also have another word in Russian meaning hotel is гостиница (gostinitsa). It’s a bit longer so you can stick to “hotel” отель (otel') so it’s easy to remember for you, отель (otel').
8. получить международные водительские права (poluchit' mezhdunarodnyye voditel'skiye prava) “to obtain an international driving license”
(On poluchil mezhdunarodnyye (voditel'skiye) prava v proshlom godu.) “He got an international driving license last year.”
9. поменять паспорт (pomenyat' pasport) “to renew your passport”
(Mne nuzhno pomenyat' zagranpasport, srok deystviya skoro zakanchivayetsya.) “I need to renew my traveling passport; it expires soon.”
By saying traveling passport, we mean that we have actually two passports. One passport is for inside the country. It’s like your ID document and another passport is for traveling abroad so you usually use it to put your visas or stamps when you enter and leave another country.
10. собрать вещи (sobrat' veshchi) “to pack”
(Sobrat' veshchi luchshe zaraneye.) “It's better to pack all your stuff beforehand.”
