| Elena: Basically, "yes" is [da] in Russian. And "no" is [net]. However, there are some expressions which are widely used in daily life, that can be confusing for foreigners. For example, a typical answer can be [Да, нет. (da, net)]. But does it mean "yes" or "no"? It means "no"! This is because the Russian [da] has several meanings. It can be also translated as "well". So, [da, net] means "well, no". |
